About Metal in March

Metal in March is a biennial event held throughout March that brings together the council’s Arts & Culture and Resource Recovery teams. This initiative promotes sustainable art practices through the use of metal while offering a public art showcase that enriches the region’s cultural landscape.

In 2024, the event took a fresh, shiny turn, offering wire and metal art enthusiasts a new perspective on the festivities. The program featured a range of metal-focused workshops, activities, and events across the region, including a competition, artist talks, and live jazz performances in the park.

The highlight of the festival, the Reuse, Recycle, RE-INVENT Metal Art Competition, offered a platform for local artists, community groups, and schools to showcase their creativity in metal art.

Stay tuned to see what Metal in March will showcase in 2026.
