Call of the Wild – Dianne Martyn

“This exhibition captures my personal journey through South Africa in 2024 – a lifelong dream come true. Immersed in the country’s rich culture, vibrant people, and breathtaking wildlife, I spent much of my time at the Madikwe Game Reserve with a small group of international artists, sketching and painting what we saw during daily game drives. Later, I embarked on a four-day walking safari in the remote wilderness of Balule, experiencing nature up close, camping in basic conditions under the stars.

I also spent time near Hoedspruit, learning local crafts, engaging with the community, and celebrating African traditions. These experiences deeply influenced my work, which focuses on emotion, movement, and the beauty of imperfection, using repurposed materials as a tribute to South Africa’s resilience and creativity.

As a passionate conservation advocate, I’m donating a portion of my art sales to African wildlife conservation projects. This exhibition is not only my artistic expression but also a way to give back. Thank you for being part of my first exhibition and for supporting both art and conservation.” – Dianne Martyn.
