About the gallery

The Emerald Art Gallery has been bringing arts to the Emerald community for nearly two decades. The gallery provides a high-profile exhibition space located in the Central Highlands Regional Council corporate office building at 65 Egerton Street in Emerald. The exhibition space is large and bright with impressive hanging space and high ceilings.

Monday to Friday: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm

    CHRC Annual Emerald Art Awards 2026
    The Central Highlands Regional Council Annual Art Awards attracts local and national artists and is held in August each year as part of council’s Art Attack! Program.
    Opening and Awards Presentation at 6pm on Friday 31 July 2026

    Ephemera
    The concept of Ephemera is to capture the disappearance of knowledge through time. It refers to changing era’s and reflects upon the influences of change at this current time.
    The collection of works present a scale of permanence, with the most rugged and indestructible contrasting with what will perish instantly.
    Everything has an expiration and that is a framework for how we choose to spend our time.
    Exhibition features Local Artists
    Opening Night: 6.00 pm Friday 18 September

     

    Emerald State High School- Student Show
    Opening Night 6pm Friday 23 October 2026
    Exhibition Continues until 20 November 2026

     

    The Reimagining by Latitude23
    Latitude23Arts is a diverse group of artists from around the Capricorn region.
    Opening Night Friday 27 November 2026.
    Exhibition continues until 15 January 2027.
    Exhibition will be closed during the Christmas period from 12.00 pm Thursday 24 December 2026 up to and including Saturday 2 January 2027, reopening on Monday 4 January 2027.
  • Annual Art Awards - Emerald
    The Central Highlands Regional Council Emerald Annual Art Awards, is the gallery’s premier art event. It attracts local and national artists and is held in during Art Attack! each year.

     

    Established and emerging artists of all ages can submit entries in up to seven categories. From easel, paper-based and three-dimensional works to photography and digital art, each category comes with a $750 prize for first and $250 prize for second place.

    Exhibit with us in the 2027 Exhibition Season!

    Ever dreamt of having an exhibition in a professional gallery space?

    Central Highlands Regional Council are calling for Expressions of Interest for both the Emerald Gallery and Bauhinia Bicentennial Art Gallery at Springsure.

    Exhibitions will be on show from late 2026 and throughout 2027.

    Submissions NOW OPEN

    Preference will be given to Central Highlands artists, Central Queensland artists and artists from other remote and regional areas.

    Please read the Exhibitor Information Guide for more information and how to apply. A floorplan is included in the document.

    Complete the Exhibition Proposal Form and return it to chgalleries@chrc.qld.gov.au.
