Community Grant applications closing soon

Central Highlands community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply now for funding to bring local projects to life, with Round 1 of Central Highlands Regional Council’s 2026-27 Community Grants Program closing on 15 September 2026.
The program supports projects and initiatives which strengthen local communities and improve quality of life across the region.
A recent recipient, CH CoLab, received funding from the previous round of the program to improve visitor safety and access of their carpark.
‘We noticed our carpark wasn’t very accessible for people who had mobility issues and because we are a facility that wants to be accessed by everyone, we knew we needed to upgrade,’ Central Highlands Community Services Community Officer Gerry Huston said.
Ms Huston said the application process was straightforward and benefited from strong community input, including support from community groups, aged care providers and CH CoLab members.
‘As a not-for-profit organisation, everything goes back into helping those in our community who are needing affordable and accessible housing, or free resources and training. The funding meant we didn’t need to possibly wait for years to upgrade the carpark, they could happen within our first year of business.
‘Although it might sound like a small upgrade, it has made a huge difference to the safety and accessibility of our carpark,’ Ms Huston said.
Applicants are encouraged to review the guidelines and connect with the relevant grant officer to discuss their proposal and receive advice before submitting.
