Draft Emerald Airport Master Plan open for public consultation

Central Highlands Regional Council has released the Draft Emerald Airport Master Plan 2025, inviting the community to have their say on the future planning of one of the region’s most critical transport assets.
As the gateway for residents, visitors, and businesses across the Central Highlands and beyond, Emerald Airport plays a vital role in supporting economic growth and connectivity. In recent years, the airport has undergone significant upgrades, including a runway overlay, terminal expansion and new parking infrastructure.
The Draft Master Plan builds on this momentum, providing a strategic framework to guide both operational continuity and long-term development opportunities. It considers future demand, land use planning, and commercial potential within the airport boundary to ensure Emerald Airport remains future-ready.
Mayor Janice Moriarty said the Draft Master Plan represents an important step in ensuring the airport continues to serve the region’s needs over the next five years to the next two decades.

‘This draft Master Plan ensures we are not only meeting the demands of today but also preparing for the opportunities of tomorrow.’ Mayor Moriarty said.
Passenger forecasts remain aligned with the 2019 Master Plan, with peak hour volumes expected to reach up to 480 passengers, or three departures or arrivals within one hour.
The draft Master Plan is now on public display, and we invite residents, airport users, and local businesses to share their feedback. Have your say online between 1 September and 30 September.
A copy of the Draft Master Plan for viewing, and feedback surveys will be available at council’s customer service centres across the region and at Emerald Airport.
