Nominations open for the 2027 Central Highlands Australia Day Awards

Posted on September 3, 2026

Now is the time to recognise and celebrate the remarkable individuals and groups in the community who make our region such as great place to live by nominating them for the Central Highlands Australia Day Awards.

Mayor Janice Moriarty said nominating someone was a simple but meaningful way to thank the people who help strengthen local communities.

‘There are individuals across our region who give their time, energy and heart to help others. The Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise those efforts and thank them for the positive impact they have on our community,’ Mayor Moriarty said.

Each year, the Central Highlands community recognises the achievements and contributions of individuals and organisations in six award categories across four regional areas.

Award categories for 2027 include:

· Citizen of the Year

· Young Citizen of the Year

· Community Event of the Year

· Senior Sportsperson/Administrator of the Year

· Junior Sportsperson of the Year

· Arts and Cultural Award
