Public notice: Boil water in Anakie

The boil water notice has now been lifted for the residents of Anakie.

Water is now safe to consume.

Council is working with the Central Queensland Public Health Unit to resolve the situation and will continue to provide further updates.

As a precaution, residents are asked to continue boiling water until further notice.


UPDATE as of 11.30 am Tuesday 14 March:

Disinfection has been restored at the Anakie water treatment plant and council is continuing to monitor and sample the water supply.

As of 2.00 pm Monday 13 March 2023, A boil water notice has been issued for residents of Anakie.

Disinfection of water has been compromised temporarily. As a precautionary measure, residents are asked to boil water. Bring water to a rolling boil and allow it to cool. Store water in a clean container with a lid and refrigerate. Cooled boiled water should be used for:

  • drinking, cooking, washing raw foods (such as seafood or salads), making ice, pet’s drinking water and cleaning teeth
  • dishes should be washed in hot soapy water and children should take bottled or cooled boiled water to school.

Council is working to alleviate the problem.

Precautions should be taken until further notice.
