Public notice – Mayfair stormwater detention basin work, Emerald

Council advises work will begin in Mayfair Estate to change the stormwater detention basins near Lauren Drive, Emerald. Work is expected to be started and completed on 24 August 2026. 

Work will include filling in the eastern, upstream basin and deepening the western, downstream basin. Additionally, a table drain along the rear boundary of Vale Street properties will be constructed. 

These basins were built to help manage stormwater during heavy rain and maintain the serviceability of Rifle Range Road and Pilot Farm Road during rainfall events. 

A recent catchment study found the basins are larger than needed. Shallow water often sits in the eastern basin, which can create breeding areas for mosquitoes and other pests. 

These improvements will make the area easier to maintain, reduce pest risks and improve the appearance of the neighbourhood.
