Wyntoon Road bitumen seal floodway upgrade complete

Central Highlands Regional Council has completed a bitumen seal upgrade on two key floodways along Wyntoon Road, enhancing the region’s road resilience and reliability.

Chief Executive Officer Aaron Johansson highlighted the importance of these upgrades in strengthening the local road network and ensuring safer travel for the community.

‘These upgrades will improve road resilience, making it easier for road users to recover after flooding events,’ Mr Johansson said.

‘By reinforcing these critical sections, we’re ensuring safer and more reliable access for residents, businesses, and emergency services,’ he continued.

‘It’s all about future-proofing our infrastructure so the community can stay connected, even in challenging weather conditions.’

Council has also programmed additional works on two other floodways along Wyntoon Road, with plans to eventually join the sealed sections together, further improving connectivity and durability.

This project was proudly funded in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS), demonstrating a continued commitment to investing in essential infrastructure for the region.
